WHY JOIN NAHEB?
Our network of business professionals around the country want you to add your expertise to our state, county or city chapters. With a diverse group of Africans, Afro-Latino, Afro-Caribbean and African American leaders we can unite
Hebrew people across the United States. At NAHEB we have 9 focus areas that each of our state, county and city chapters focus on:
1. Access to capital and loans: To put in place a Credit Union that will primarily serve the interest of the members – the
Proposed Hebrew Federal Credit Union is our flagship initiative
2. Advocacy:
promote awareness of social concern, advocate, and assist the Hebrew people achieve a reasonable level of sustainability in the community
3. Education:
To articulate educational problems, needs, and issues related to Hebrews.
4. Networking:
To hold meetings, and to actively engage in network-building with local, state, and national organizations for the purpose of securing changes in those laws and policies detrimental to our constituencies.
5. Business Creation: To assist and provide resources that will help Hebrews create and operate businesses in United States.
6. Employment: To assist in establishing effective institutional programs to recruit and retain Hebrew students, teachers, faculty, and professional staff in United States.
7. Cultural Refreshment: To assist in the promotion of the history and culture of Hebrews for cultural, educational and public information purposes.
8. Scholarships: to issue scholarship to undergraduate and graduate students of our community
9. Distributions: To make distributions to Hebrews organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code
NAHEB Member Roles and Responsibilities
Our NAHEB team members volunteer their time to take on the various roles in our associations organizational structure. Each of our appointed members are part of the diverse community of Hebrews and must have at least one African, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latino or African American as part of the chapter leadership. Appointed by the President of NAHEB
The Chair of any state, county or city chapter has the responsibility to recruit and swear in the chapter secretary, committee leaders and new members. Organize meetings, coordinate with Deputy Chair, conduct performance review of committees, renewing committee member leadership, developing policies and procedures via the NAHEB bylaws, be the point of contact and face of the chapter. The Chair is also responsible for coordinating with the Proposed Hebrew Federal Credit Union leadership and the NAHEB Executive Team to promote the formation of the credit union and to develop and build their chapter of professionals.

The Deputy Chair has the same role as the Chair of any chapter. This position must be filled by the alternative Hebrew classification than the chair to allow for the diversity of the chapter. For instance if the Chair of any chapter is African the Deputy Chair must be of Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latino or African American descent and vice versa. This position is also responsible for referrals for open positions and to act as the Chair in the absence of one and has all the authorities of the chair. The State Deputy Chair also has the responsibility of reporting to the National Executive team and coordinating with the county and city chapter chairs.

The secretary of each of the state, county and city chapters is responsible for keeping meeting minutes, scheduling meetings for each chapter, coordinating with the chapter leadership for developing new initiatives and corresponding with the state, county and city secretaries to distribute information from the National team to its chapters members. The secretary must have administrative experience, bi-lingual in any language is preferred and proficient with Microsoft Office suite. The secretary reports to the chapter leadership and the National Secretary General.

There are 10 committee positions that each chapter must fill with a director, assistant director and secretary. Each of the 1o committees can have unlimited number of members that volunteer to serve.

*All of our positions above are filled on a rolling basis per state, county and city. Each of our applicants is required to be nominated by a paid NAHEB member in good standing and submit a Resume/CV to the Chapter Chair or Deputy Chair to approve at their next scheduled monthly chapter meeting. Each of our appointed members will be sworn in to their office and agree to the mission, vision and bylaws of NAHEB before taking their seat in each chapter position.

*Anyone with at least one biological parent of Hebrew descent are eligible to apply for membership. Annual dues are collected immediately and requirements are verified by state chapter chair or deputy chair upon completion of payment and application submission.
